For this weeks edition of  Wordless Wednesday…

Your 3(!) big years of life in 15 little pictures.

You started out life so rough. Sometimes it’s hard to believe you are still here with me. I’m thankful every day for you.

I loved you from the begining, with a love so strong it sometimes suffocates me.

I never wanted to put you down, you were always in my arms. My little ladybug.

I loved your baby rolls, those chubby cheeks I loved to kiss.

I am so proud of you, baby girl.

You’re the best of both worlds; so gentle and so sweet with so much energy and spunk.

I wish I could see the world through your beautiful brown eyes.

You make me want to be a better person.

You always make me smile. From the inside out.

You’re so goofy. Just like your mommy.

You have your father’s will.

We’ve been through some tough times, angel.

I’ve been there through every tear.

And every time we’ve laughed together.

You Are My Sunshine
My “little” sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You’ll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away

I love you, baby girl. Happy early birthday to my everything.

Alright, I haven’t blogged since Thursday, I know! I’ll give you a run down of what’s been happening and make up for it with cute pictures including matching Easter dresses! We had a very busy weekend, coloring eggs and celebrating and such…we also had an inspector coming today to inspect our apartment, so we had to clean, clean, clean! Our apartment was already fairly clean but our carpets were in desperate need of a good steam cleaning and we needed to better organize the toys in Kayla’s room to make it look less cluttered.

We went to my parents house on Saturday and colored eggs. Avalynn decided to sleep through the occasion (which made me sad because I wanted to see her at least look like she was trying to drop eggs in the dye). Kayla had lots of fun dying her hands blue and eating the eggs but there was really very little actual egg dying. We also went out on Saturday to Target and got their Easter presents. I knew we were supposed to get them some outdoorsy type of stuff but it was very slim pickings in that section by the time we got there. That’s okay, though, because the toys we did get them were a huge hit.

Sunday morning they got there presents. Kayla got Squakers McCaw the Fur real Parrot and various other little toys and puzzle boards. Ava got the Amazing Animals Musical Activity Barnyard and some other stuff. Let me tell you, that parrot is CRAZY. It also scares me a little. Someone (I’m guessing either my husband or my father) trained it to say myname and it picks THE MOST random times to say it. Like when the house is quiet after everyone has gone to bed and I am turning off the lights. I’ve tried to change it but I can’t figure out how! But hey, I guess it could be worse. We could have bought this frightening doll for her and I may have had to secretly dispose of it in our dumpster while everyone was away. If it didn’t kill me in my sleep first.

After presents we took a trip to a pretty field by our house to take Easter pictures of the girl’s. Who, if I do say so myself, are extremely photogenic. I loved the pics. I’ll put them at the bottom of this post.

We had a great day over at my parents after that, Kayla played with some of the neighbors and drew with chalk. She even went swimming in their pool! And didn’t have a seizure! (Body temperature changes are one of her triggers for seizures)

I also took some pictures of my beautiful younger sister in her Easter dress.

At the end of the day, a couple of the neighbor kids came to the door and asked if Kayla could play. At the time she was taking a nap so we had to say no, but I almost burst out into tears because no one has ever came to the door an asked if she could play before! My little girl is growing up! Make it stop!

They hunted for eggs, but Kayla refused to hold any of the eggs in her basket and went around picking up eggs and depositing them into other peoples baskets. Ava was only interested in LICKING THE OUTSIDE OF THE EGGS.

Today we had our home invasion apartment inspection. I swear, the lady that did it was soincredibly rude I almost slapped her. We received a notice last week stating that all of the apartments in our building were going to be inspected today. They said they would arrive any time between 9am and 5pm. Well sometime around 10am Kayla woke up. She had a really long day the day before and was exhausted so I let her sleep. I woke up around 9:30 and cruised some blogs and decided to get something to eat. Around 11am I woke the hubbs up (he works nights so he usually sleeps in later than that) but I wanted him to watch the kids so I could jump in the shower. I went into the bathroom to, well, go to the bathroom, when I heard a POUNDING at our door. I told the hubbs to tell them to come back in a few minutes because I was in the bathroom. As he opened the door, some lady we had never seen before demanded “Let us in, apartment inspection!” Before my hubbs even had time to reply, she and the two men accompanying her shoved the door open and barged into the house. My hubby didn’t even have a shirt on. They didn’t say a word to him. They quickly walked from room to room turning on light switches and turning on and off faucets. All of a sudden I heard some voices from the bathroom. One of the men with her looked my husband over and said, “Were you sleeping??” and quickly motions his head towards Kayla who is playing on the floor in the living room. My husband, understanding what he is implying, snaps back “Yeah, I was, my wife is in the bathroom.” I wish he would have said something about how he works nights so they wouldn’t just assume he sleeps all day. Them barging in at 11am is the equivalent of us barging into their house at 5am. But, whatever. Then the lady comes over and starts banging on the door of the bathroom I am currently occupying. “Are you gonna be out soon?” What the hell, lady? I come out, towel in hand with a very angry look on my face. I know if this lady even looks at me wrong, I might that I might fly off at her so I head back to my bedroom to look for my make-up. Ava is in her bed taking a nap in there so I try to be quiet. As I’m going through my drawer, I look up to find her standing behind me pointing at a window in our room. “You can’t have access to that window blocked. I’m going to notify the office that you have that window blocked.” I look over and see three small laundry baskets filled with clothes waiting to be folded. Not blocking any window, barely even taking up any space on the floor. “Whatever. You woke my seven month old up. Thanks.”

I don’t think they acted in any way respectful of MY HOME or MY THINGS or even myself or the hubbs. It didn’t go anything like I had expected it to. I expected a knock on the door, them to ask if it was okay if they came in and did the inspection. If they noticed I was in the bathroom, maybe asked if they wanted me to have them come back later. Ask before they enter ANY room especially my room. Where my child is sleeping. The whole thing was pretty ridiculous. My blood is still boiling over it, as you can probably tell.

After that we took Kayla to occupational therapy where she slid down a ramp on a scooter board, worked on drawing circles on a chalk board, and strung beads on a string. They are mostly working on her fine motor skills and trying to build up muscles in her back so that she has better trunk balance. She loves it though because as much as they are trying to make her work, she just thinks it’s one big play-date.

I don’t know why I am not writing very well tonight. I feel kind of frustrated and just want to get this blog entry over. I think I’m just stressed out a little. So sorry!

Anyway, here are those cute pictures as promised!

Thirteen Pictures from our trip to the Beach

The nice thing about living in Southern California is even though there is still snow melting in many states, it’s nice and warm here. We took the kids out to the beach yesterday. It was Ava’s first time and she absolutely hated it. We still had a great time, and Ava was fairly content as long as NO PART OF HER BODY TOUCHED ANY SAND. The water was still freezing, but Kayla insisted on going in.

I got my hair cut yesterday! I colored it too. Now I seem to be sporting a Scully from the X-files type of look. But I like it, as you can tell by the “this is ma’ tryin’ real hard to make sexey faaace” look. I honestly think the Laxapro has something to do with it as well. I seem to have a boost in confidence since I started taking it, which is really cool because I had NO self esteem a couple of weeks ago. I also find I am having an easier time talking to people. I can actually carry on conversations with complete strangers! Without have a panic attack! I sound like such a nerd right now…

This weeks WordlessWednesday: Parade of the bath toys. This is what happens when I don’t go outside to take pictures all week, then realize that it’s Wednesday and I don’t have a picture for my WW; I hunt for something around the house to take pictures of, settle on something crappy, and mess around with them for a bit n Photoshop. Maybe you could tell me your favorite…I promise I’ll put more effort in next week!

I love long exposure photos, there is just so much you can mess around with. Sometimes, if you mess around enough, you end up with some pretty crazy pictures. I’ll get to those in a minute.

First, sorry no Thursday 13 this week. We spent most of the morning at the dentist office for Kayla. She needed two fillings in her front two teeth. It was a traumatic morning for the both of us to say the least! Instead of putting her under like some dentists do (which is good because her body never takes that well), this one straps her to a board, straps her hands to her legs, and then her whole body to the board.

It’s pretty much a giant straight jacket for kids.

They would still give her shots to numb her mouth and everything-although they didn’t need to for her since hey were just surface fillings- but it’s simple a way to get them to hold my giant amazon kid still. She has the strength of thirty men. I swear.

I still couldn’t stand watching her. Although I could tell she wasn’t in pain because she screamed the loudest during the part where they were cleaning her teeth with the polisher that [I think] actually feels good, and while they were rinsing her mouth out with the sprayer and suctioning. She calmed down when they were doing the drilling on the surface of her tooth which I thought was the part where she would cry more, but it turned out she was getting quiet because secretly under her straight jacket she was freeing her hands while devising a secret plan to stick that drill in the dentist’s eye. Lucky enough for him, his lovely assistant managed to grab her escaping hand about half a second before it was too late.

After that we took her to Toys ‘r’ Us. We wanted to make up for making her go to the dentist and reward her for being good. Even if she did try to take out the dentist with his own drill. So what, I have the urge to do that every time I go to the dentist as well.

Anyway, there was a lunar eclipse on Wednesday night, for those of you who missed it! It was pretty freaking cool looking! There were so many clouds out there though it was hard to get any pictures. The clouds cleared only twice, so I got what I could. It’s sad that I stood out there in the cold for an hour trying to take pictures of this thing and I only got a couple usable pictures! But not as sucky as it went for my mother, who upon arriving outside; set up her tripod, camera and adjustments, just to find out that her camera was dead. Dead camera = no usable pictures. It was very nice of her to stand out there with me for an hour, complaining about the great shots she was missing keeping me company in the cold.

Here are some of the lunar eclipse shots I got. Like the two.

And one towards the end when the sunlight hit the side of the moon.

As the night progressed I played more with my camera and took various other night shots.

No, I was not the one driving during those pictures!

My favorite pictures, however, are the following three. They may not look like much, just some pictures of some hills and all, but the story behind them is actually pretty cool. My husband and I are thinking about moving into another place soon. There is a waiting list for them, which I’m told we will be at the top of next week, and we are seriously debating whether or not to move. We love our place now, it’s big, in a very high class and pretty area of San Diego, and we have lived here for the last two years. We in no way feel cramped (it is a rather large floor plan) but I know we will be very shortly as the children grow. These apartments would add an extra 10-15 minutes to my husbands already annoyingly long commute and would cost us more in rent per month but there would be a third bedroom, 300 extra square footage, beautiful views, in an even nicer area, and we would be living right next to my brother and sister-in-law, which would be really cool.

After I shot those pictures of the lunar eclipse and hung out for a while at my parents house, we headed for home, but decided to drive an extra 12 minutes out of our way to drive by our potential new home. We decided to drive up the road from them to see what else was around it and when we got about ¼ of a mile up the road the road ended in this little turn-about. It was 11:30 at night and the kids were asleep in the back so we decided to get out. It was so incredibly dark out there, we couldn’t see city lights or anything. We could barely see the outline of the hills reflecting from the moon. My hubby said,

“Why don’t you take some pictures?”

“Of what?” I replied. “It’s nothing but dark out here.”

“Leave the shutter open for as long as you can.” He said.

So I did. I couldn’t even tell what I was going to be taking a picture of. I was somewhere I had never been before, in the middle of the night, setting up my tripod. So, I set up my camera and set the shutter to say open the longest it could. These were the pictures I got. You would never believe I took these at 11:30 at night, in pitch black.

It was pretty crazy to see these come up on my screen when I couldn’t even see what I was taking a picture of, and all I was expecting to see come up on the screen was darkness.

Why does it feel as though I have done so many of these WordlessWednesdays and I have actually only done nine? Hmmm. The questions that keep me up at night… ; D

This is a locket I got my daughter on her first trip to Disneyland in January. I promised that I would fill it with a picture of mommy and daddy for her but I keep forgetting. I don’t want to cut up any pictures so tonight that is my goal, putting pictures of mommy and daddy in.

See I told you those pictures of me would serve some sort of a purpose!

Today I was bored so I whipped out the camera and decided to take some pictures.

Only I didn’t want to leave my house.

And I couldn’t think of anything else to do…so, I got all dressed up and took pictures of myself.

HEY!

Don’t even pretend like you’ve never done it! It’s fun and some day my kids will be glad they had some pictures of me when I was young. I don’t know, that’s just the excuse I tell myself. Anyways, last night I was cruising the net and I came across Sarcastic Mom’s blog. Actually, I think I have seen it a couple other times we have given a few comments to each other in the past… *Anyways!* She has started this photo documentary called Everyday Me –she has a lot of things she does everyday including one on a different part of her body every day for a year, you should check that out as well.

I thought that was a really cool idea especially after I saw the video another blogger had already made of hers. Here is the video;

It’s pretty frickin’ cool, huh? Well, I showed it to my hubby and he decided he wanted to do it (He doesn’t even have  a blog), so I decided I wanted to give it a try too. My hubby also thought it would be a good idea to do the kids as well. Wouldn’t it be neat to actually watch them age? Maybe I’ll live in a dream world and play it in reverse when I’m done, watch them turn back into babies!

So I already took a picture for today (and kids and hubby too), I went ahead and did it while I was all dressed up for the other pictures I was going to take. I think I will start the [blog] page about it once I get a few more pictures going. Hopefully, this isn’t just another one of the things I try to start but then get bored and give up. But, I do that a lot so ya never know…

Anyways I took some self portraits, I haven’t done any in a while these ones were just for fun and not in relation to that other project. But I’ll share anyways. ; D

Okay, once again my post is not-so-Wordless but I have heard that there are no rules to WW so I am going to do something that may bore a couple of you. I am repeating last weeks WW again because my Internet was broken and I had to post it on Thursday, not many people got a chance to see it. I did however just post a new post below this one with video! So if you saw this one last week simply scroll down and read my last post for some entertainment. Or click here. If your really in the mood for entertainment and you missed it, click here to see a picture of my face covered in coffee grounds. To the rest of you, Happy Wordless Wednesday!

I’m back to internetland! Yay! I was pulling out my hair going so long without it. With my luck everyone will have forgotten about my blog and gone on their merry ways! Anyways, again, my post it not-so-wordless. I went to the park this week with the kids and managed to get amazing shots! Here they are, I hope you really enjoy them.

Bawbie

I am so bad at making these things Wordless.

This picture is of a Barbie (or “Bawbie” pronounced with a Jersey accent as Kayla would call it) that I got Kayla for her 18-month birthday. Yes, you heard that right, 18-month birthday.

I don’t know about any of you moms out there, and I may just be sounding crazy, but I celebrated every month of the first year of my first-born’s life. Every month she had a home made cake on the 3rd (whether she could eat it or not) and when she turned one I decided maybe I should only celebrate half years after that. We are currently a part of the birthday ONCE a year club, as mom cannot bake a cake once a month for the rest of your LIFE and isn’t quite sure what she was thinking once she started this.

Now that I have another kid, I’m like, how old is she again? Four or five months? …I don’t remember… Not because kid number two is any less special or anything, but because celebrating a birthday every month requires energy. Energy that would be better used on say, fighting off a kicking, screaming, flailing toddler that absolutely will die if she doesn’t get to watch Blue’s Clue’s at that very exact second no matter where in the world you are or what you are doing.

Maybe I just clung to the fact that she was still alive and celebrating on the third of each month was just my way of coming to grips with the fact that, yes, she truly was there, alive and breathing next to me.

Anyways, back to my not-so-Wordless Wednesday. This is a picture of the Barbie I gave her on her 18-month birthday as one of her gifts. She could have cared less about it at the time seeing as how it is not really an age appropriate toy for an 18-month-old, but now it has become her latest obsession. “Bawbie” must eat sleep, bathe, and yes, my friends, even sit on the potty with us.

After our bath the other day, Kayla told me that “Bawbie” needed a diaper. I tried to explain to her that Barbie was a big girl that used the potty and tried to tell her that she should take some pointers from Barbie, but it was a no go. So after much persuasion, mommy cut up one of Sissies diapers that she had outgrown and taped it to Barbie. Because Barbie poops herself.

The first piece was taken at Disneyland. The second piece is a picture I was working on Christmas Eve of our house that burned down in the San Diego wildfires. It looks as though I have almost caught the aura of our old house, even though it had already burned to the ground.
